A glass and steel box encapsulated by a metal shell, Swivel House is a modest residence that utilizes operable panels to alter various solid/void transparencies. The metal shell acts as a regulator to the openness of the glass box substructure. Moments of openness can occur when desired at specific locations or the structure can be closed off enforcing privacy in those same instances. Ironically, the bedroom is the only piece of the design that lacks the ability to close itself off.

However, this portion of the structure is elevated at a higher plane making any act of voyeurism difficult, almost teasing.

The rear facade is equipped with the ability to open itself up the most. Theoretically this facade would be a viewport opening up to a vista or grand panorama of some kind. This viewport paired with the operable swivel platform would please any landscape spectator.
